In this iteration, I discovered that the placement of materials inside the instrument’s body is crucial. When glitter is too far from the light source, its overall effect is weak; sequins fared much better. There’s an additional motor in this instrument for more movement within the painting. Further programming was done to amplify the dynamic lighting effects. I’ve always aimed to be mindful of material usage to achieve each material’s full potential and to minimize waste. I took apart the first instrument and reused the CD pieces in the crafting of the second.
